Death can be a real challenge for us to deal with in our lives. Whether it is dealing with the absence of a loved one or the reality of our own departure.

Isaiah 25:8 NLT
He will swallow up death forever! The Sovereign Lord will wipe away all tears. He will remove forever all insults and mockery against his land and people. The Lord has spoken!

TRUTH
How many of us treat God like a genie with our prayers? Only calling out to Him about the things that we want and need? Forgetting to praise and worship and honor Him for all of the blessings we have already received – and like a spoiled child only thinking about the blessings ahead that we want?

Psalms 115:1 NLT
Not to us, O  lord , not to us, but to your name goes all the glory for your unfailing love and faithfulness.

Romans 8:1 KJV
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

TRUTH
I’ve seen this verse used so many different ways. In fact, I’ve used it so many different ways myself.

Put down the strap, take your stripes!

Sometimes I see people so angry at one another, or being so hateful to each other that it makes me want to hand out leather straps to them and say –

Here, strike me for their offenses. Get rid of your anger, it is killing you. If it will help you be rid of those demons in your life, I’m willing to take the stripes.

Psalms 112:4-10 NLT
Light shines in the darkness for the godly. They are generous, compassionate, and righteous. Good comes to those who lend money generously and conduct their business fairly. Such people will not be overcome by evil. Those who are righteous will be long remembered. They do not fear bad news; they confidently trust the lord to care for them. They are confident and fearless and can face their foes triumphantly. They share freely and give generously to those in need. Their good deeds will be remembered forever. They will have influence and honor. The wicked will see this and be infuriated. They will grind their teeth in anger; they will slink away, their hopes thwarted.

Are you part of a protected flock?

A flock of sheep with a protective Lion amongst them doesn’t need to be afraid of a wolf in sheep’s clothing – but a defenseless goat wandering alone is an easy meal.

Psalms 109:1-5 NLT
O God, whom I praise, don’t stand silent and aloof while the wicked slander me and tell lies about me.
They surround me with hateful words and fight against me for no reason.
I love them, but they try to destroy me with accusations even as I am praying for them!
They repay evil for good, and hatred for my love.

Romans 8:13 AMP
For if you live according to [the dictates of] the flesh, you will surely die. But if through the power of the [Holy] Spirit you are [habitually] putting to death (making extinct, deadening) the [evil] deeds prompted by the body, you shall [really and genuinely] live forever.
