Hi,

I’m Harold “Hop” Ballinger and I live in Campobello, SC, USA with my wife, Mandee, and daughter, Mia. This blog is to share the things that I am learning daily in my walk with Christ. I do not have all of the answers, nor do I consider myself a great teacher (“we have one teacher” Matt 23:10) – but I do share the crumbs from my table as I am fed daily from the Word of God. I share in hopes that others might read and share and fellowship with me – for accountability, for growth, for Iron Sharpening Iron, for healing, for encouragement, for the equipping of the Saints, and for sharing this Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

If you ever have any questions or have concerns that I may have spoken carelessly, please don’t hesitate contacting me directly. The Holy Spirit guides us with a clear voice, but there are times that distraction or my own delivery might hamper the clarity of the message, because I am not perfectly skilled in language, writing, and speaking. Please extend to me your mercy for anything where I have gotten in the way of the message of truth – I do my best to stay true to the message, but I am fallible.

I also really enjoy singing, and you might have gotten to this sight through a “SparklecityHop” video on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Smule, Voisey, or other similar social media link. I am from Spartanburg, SC, which is fondly nicknamed “Sparkle City” by some of the locals, and my nickname is “Hop”. So that birthed the pseudonym “SparkleCityHop”. I like to write poems, lyrics, and songs for fun, and I have made friends with so many people who are insanely talented musically. I love to encourage these talented and creative and introspective friends, because making a living as an artist can be a lonely place — both at the bottom and at the top.
