Valentine

So the late middle English speaks of “valentine” as “a person chosen” as a “special friend”.

This reminds me immediately of John 15:15-17 where He says “I chose you” and “I have called you friends”.

I hope this Valentine’s Day that you know Jesus Christ as your valentine. As much as I love my wife ands she loves me — He is the better valentine to both of us. We fall short and we let each other down at times, but He is always faithful and true.

Today, our family knows that He is our first love, and we are so much richer for it, and our love for each other is so much deeper, wider, fuller and abundant because of it.

Thank you, Jesus. Help us always remember. And remember us on that day, for your name’s sake. Amen.
