Don’t Worry, Be Thankful. How? Pray!

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.
Philippians 4:6 NLT
https://bible.com/verse-of-the-day/php.4.6/460

“How dare you tell me not to worry! Who are you to try and teach me?” Some might read this and respond like this within their cold darkened hearts, even if they are not bold enough to respond aloud or publicly or directly — misunderstanding the plea to step into freedom from such chains as a “You shouldn’t…”

As a Christian, I’m not sharing such things to condemn you.

If you love your worry and anxiety and it is your friend — if you find it is profitable and abundant in your life and meets your every need — then maybe you are meant for worry to reign over you as your master for all your life. I just don’t think that anyone who would be honest with themselves would want worry ruling over them — but what hope do they have to get rid of their captor alone and by their own power? Hasn’t it already proven to them time and time again that it is their master no matter how many times they have tried to fight it away themselves, doesn’t it return, sometimes with friends like guilt and regret and shame and depression to agonize it’s captives?

As a Christian, I’m telling you that there is one stronger than your worries — and you can meet Him through prayer.

Thank you, Jesus!

God provides Salvation [Whole Bible – Day 3]

Just as the ark was a salvation for Noah who walked with God and marks the wrath poured out upon that evil generation — Jesus is salvation for those who walk with God and He marks the wrath that will be poured out on this evil generation.

We see the clear example of families, of bound relationships – Male and female — not just in Noah’s family members, but in the animals as well who were given entry into the ark. And this same bond, in order to enter into salvation, we must have with Christ Jesus — we are betrothed to Christ Jesus as His Church, as the active body of His Kingdom he on earth as He is in heaven.

And God chose Noah to enter into this available salvation that was made through the Ark — Noah did not come up with the idea or bargain or pay for his ticket in any way. And those men and women not chosen perished. And the animals did not goad Noah into choosing them and didn’t trade favors to earn their passage — Noah chose them. Just like we, His elect, were chosen before the foundation of the heavens and the earth, to be given this free gift of salvation, of faith, of repentance — that is not of ourselves, so that we may not boast, but is a free gift of God. We who are called and chosen can enter in through Christ into this new life — rescued from death and sin and shame and hopelessness and the darkness.

Christ is the son in whom God is pleased, and when I am covered in His righteousness — it isn’t that the name of Harold Ballinger gets to share in the glory that is Christ’s so that I might sit in a place of honor. No, any real good that comes from this vessel is just Him using me as the conduit, so all the glory and honor is his. A lamp and a lightbulb will never produce light until the electricity flows through to produce the light. A man can participate in flipping the switch, but in the absence of electricity the will be no light, no matter how much show or pretense is put on by the man to claim that he has the power to illuminate! So we who have heard the call, we mustn’t think so much of ourselves for being chosen. We mustn’t think so much or so little of ourselves for whatever measure of faith we are given compared to another. We mustn’t concern ourselves with whether we are first on the ark or last, or if we are like the smallest of creeping things that was spared or the largest of beasts — whether we are the fastest cheetah or the slowest sloth, whether we are like a worm wriggling in the ground or an eagle who can soar on high — we were chosen with a purpose and a plan.

No sense looking back at what ifs and regrets to see our future opportunity turned to motionless and ineffective salt like Lots wife, or too be anxious about tomorrow and miss out on the blessing of being safe in the ark today. He has called you and chosen you, beloved child of God! Remember that! Believe it! And listen to what Jesus preached then and what you must preach now as well — first to yourself and then to the ends of the earth — Repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand. Amen!

Make Allowance for Faults

Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.
Colossians 3:13 NLT

Expectations can really get us into trouble. Many times we perceive “faults” in others because we have set up in our minds how they “should” be acting or behaving. But how many times that we have fallen into offense over something someone else has done have we actually asked God His will and purpose in the situation and been still enough to hear His own answer and not or own mind’s anxious wanderings? How many times have we remembered that there is not any good in us (or “them” apart from Christ) — so that we might not set unreasonable expectations upon ourselves and others to be “faultless” in our eyes than can only see “dimly”, rather than understanding that God gives each a measure of faith, a specific gift and calling, and a purpose according to His plan? When we have been forgiven so much, we shouldn’t be so quick to set up standards in our own minds that requires an admittedly imperfect people to fit into “our plan” of what things “should look like”.

Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit. So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith.
Galatians 6:7‭-‬10 NLT

If we sow judgement and condemnation, we will reap the fruit that comes from such prideful seeds. But if we sow forgiveness and live, we will reap the fruit that comes from such humble and meek seeds.Lord, you provide the seed, but we must put our hand to the plow. We must till this soil and plant this Word of God into our hearts and share it with others so that faith will abound in those who have ears to hear. Your Word will accomplish what it was sent for, so we must send it.Lord, help us send this seed to the farthest reaches, to every ear that will either pridefully reject or humbly repent. And Lord, help us to allow for the faults in others. Help us to forgive. Help us to do good to everyone — especially to those in the family of faith. Help us to not set unreasonable demands and heavy burdens in or own minds for ourselves or for others, but to be eager and grateful for whatever measure of faith we see being demonstrated in ourselves and others. Help us to run on wings like angels to share this Good News, content whether loved and appreciated and honored by others, or when they place demands or or oppression or abuse or mistreatment upon us. Let us make ourselves slaves of Christ alone, so that we can demand of ourselves mercy and love towards others, and see it flow freely like a river of refreshing waters. And even if we face false accusations or those who refuse to make alliance for or own faults, let us not speak except what you will tell us in that moment to speak. Help us to follow in your footsteps, Lord. Help us to walk with you wherever you would have us go. Amen.

God’s Plan Amidst Man’s Rebellion [Whole Bible – Day 2]

From the beginning and all the way through until the end, we can see God’s perfect plan in contrast to the wicked ways of men. Whether it is Adam and Eve’s fall in the garden, Cain’s envious, murderous treachery towards his brother, Lamech’s escalation to prideful bragging about his murderous actions to his wives, or Herod’s willingness to murder scores of little children — we see that the actions of men towards one another are selfish and envious and prideful and hateful and murderous and deceitful. But we see All Powerful God showing restraint, mercy, love in a stark contrast to the ways that men seek power over one another by subjugation, persecution, abuse, etc..

God’s Perfect Plan [Whole Bible – Day 1]

God has a perfect plan and order for everything. Nothing in history has caught Him off guard. Nothing you have done at your absolute worst has shocked and surprised Him in the least. He has seen you in your wickedness, in your darkest and most private thoughts, in your most tempting desires, in your most foolish actions — and He still says, “Come see what I have planned for you from even before the foundations of the heavens and the earth. Come see how I have offered and demonstrated and proven my love for you.”

Whether prostitute who recognized the power of God to come to the aid of God’s people in the Old Testament and to be found in the lineage of Jesus Christ in the New Testament, or prodigal son returned home to his loving father, or thief on the cross with nothing to offer but a humble faith in Christ alone to save him — He knows you and He loves you, and He calls you out of that old life to come and walk with Him now.

Hallelujah! That’s Good News! That’s Amazing News! That’s life altering and direction changing and chain breaking news!
